Stone & Brick
My favorite design element by far is to use stone or brick in my designs. It’s rare that I don’t try to incorporate some kind of stone or brick somewhere in my clients home or business. The above photo shows three examples of how stone and brick bring a tremendous sense of elegance, comfort and warmth to a room.
1) White Washed Stone (also known as over-grouted stone)
I absolutely love old world white washed look like the upper left image taken from Joanna Gaines Kitchen Show ‘Magnolia Table’. Also from Magnolia Table is the image below of the dining room wall. Even though it’s a rather old world feel, it feels right at home with modern styles. IS THIS YOUR STYLE? I haven’t found anyone able to do this in their home yet, so if this is a look you love, we simply have to get together and put this in your home.

2) Stacked Stone
If you are drawn more to a contemporary style I’d suggest you check out the latest in stacked stone. I’ve used this modern natural stone in both my design studio and my bedroom. I’ve also found a source that carries this style in a backsplash, which needs to have a thinner profile than standard stacked stone.
It is a natural stone material that comes in 24 x 6″ sections generally so it’s easy to install. Here I used as a main accent wall with track lighting for a gorgeous relaxing ambience. And as you can see my kitty Gizmo enjoys modeling for you all.
Like this look? Want to try it out in your home? I can create 3D renderings of what it would look like in your home. Make it an accent wall!

3) Brick
I love how this home uses so much texture in every design element like the woven lamp shades and sisal rug, yet it’s the brick wall that sets up the background for the modern organic feel. Doesn’t it look so cool next to the black framed windows?
